Apps that make me willing to jailbreak: HomeScreen 2.0
![]()
Coming back with another post in the ‘apps that make me willing to jailbreak’ series I am going to highlight HomeScreen 2.0. Yup, for those following along, this app is another that deals with the lock screen and makes it more useful.
This app does stray a little from my preferred path in that I am not using this app, not because it looks bad, but because my lock screen is pretty well taken care of at this point. That said, just what does HomeScreen 2.0 actually do? Well, according to the official description, HomeScreen 2.0 is;
“A free alternative to intelliscreen, a home screen for lockbackground that shows the weather as well as the status messages.”
With that, and for anyone not familiar with intelliscreen, it basically gives you a lock screen that displays and updates with current information. In the case of HomeScreen 2.0 users can choose to have items such as the weather and calendar, as well as a display of the number of missed calls, new emails waiting and even a notification letting you know that you have unread RSS feeds.
In short, this will make your lock screen more useful. I will remind you that I have not used this personally so I cannot comment on the installation or setup process, however if anyone has any experience please feel free to share in the comments below.
Well, that wraps up another in the apps that make me willing to jailbreak series. Moving on, if anyone has an app that they think would make a nice feature, please let me know.

Does look pretty sweet…I inch closer and closer to jailbreaking. Then I put the breaks on in fear that if I screw things up and it’s fatal, I’ll be devastated.
